Hi Fiona

Glad to hear you got your results, and while not very nice, something can be done about it. You must be so relieved.

What a nasty shock for you and your son, I can't understand why people do these horrible things. I hope he's fully recovered now.

Enjoy your wine. I shall be joining you later on. Cheers!

Hi Fiona, am glad to hear that your results showed something that is potentially manageable. Hope your son is feeling better.

SO pleased, Fiona!

I am sorry that you have these other troubles but thank God no cancer.

And keep drinking the wine, best therapy if you ask me!

Happy Christmas to you and the family from me and mine!

Hi Fiona, hope your son is ok now. What a worry for you!

I have a haemanginoma on my c spine it has been growing for a couple of years but no treatment has been suggested yet. I am glad that the bone cancer tests were negative.

Hope things improve for you!

Hi Fiona,

I`m glad your results showed something less daunting than they might have done.

Your poor son! We parents never reall stop worrying - as Doreen said, the phone call in the wee small hours is usually alarming.

Take care,

Kathleen x

Dear everyone, thank you for all the lovely replies!
I am glad that people liked the video. I couldn't stop laughing when I first saw it!
I am pleased with my results but, but as always I cannot resist "googling" and scare myself again!
This Haemangioma is apparently, a common finding in the Spine on M.R.I scans. But from
what I have researched they seem to actually grow in the vertabrae and can be a cause of them
breaking!
My report, which the Doctor printed off for me said that it was "abutting the Spinal Cord".
Now I don't like the sound of that!
The Doctor is requesting that I be seen by my Rheumatologist urgently after the Christmas
break, to get his opinion.
My blood test did look at my level of inflamation and apparently I don't have any anymore!
At least not at the moment!
But the Rheumatologist will do more extensive R.A bloods.
However, as I mentioned in previous posts, (fingers crossed), my R.A symptoms mysteriously
swithched off way back in July/August and I have remained in some weird state of remission!
This is the first time in 15 years that my symptoms have stopped and I had a cold/flu virus and
two lots of Antibiotics for it and on day 4 of the second lot (Doxycycline, I think), the pains and stiffness
went away.
I don't feel right when I post about it on here because I know that others are flaring and I don't
want to make others feel bad - but please remember that I never, ever forget what the suffering of R.A is like.
If only my back would clear up I would feel like a new woman, but unfortunately, the pain from the
Spinal Kaphoses and perhaps the Haemangioma is rather pervasive!
I can't help but wonder if there is a link between my back problems and the R.A symptoms going.
It is as if my immune system is actually being fooled into doing something useful elsewhere?
Much love to all,
FionaHuh

P.S Hi again!
My youngest son did recover from being "spiked" in the pub. But he was not with a
group of people who were all spiked, there were four who collapsed - only one from each table,
he did not know any of the others!

Hi Fiona,

Please don't worry about posting about your remission, I'm sure none of us gets upset about it! You certainly deserve a period of respite when you have so much pain in your back!

Besides, it's good to hear about someone who actually is experiencing remission.....we keep hearing the words but never know of anyone who's actually gone into remission. I for one would be absolutely thrilled for you if your remission turns into a permanent one so do keep us posted as to how things are with you.

I hope your back pain settles down soon.
Love, Doreen xx

Dear Doreen, thank you for putting my mind to rest about posting
on the forum about my weird remission!
The day that the remission occurred, I had just been to a Podiatry appointment and on
my way home, decided to walk through my local park and sit in the sunshine for a few minutes.
I sat on a bench in the sun and relaxed.
My voice was still croaky from the virus I had been suffering with. The Podiatrist had said
that he could tell I had been poorly - even though I considered myself over it.
I had a cigarette and after I had put it out I suddenly thought to myself, "I am the same as
all the other people sitting around me in the park. I am going to walk home and not feel stiff
when I stand up and it is not going to hurt as I walk!"
It didn't either!
After a couple of days had gone by, I felt that I wanted to tell my daughter what had happened
to me and so I telephoned her, but then told her how afraid I felt that it was some bizarre
freaky thing and that it would soon get me again!
Venetia, (my daughter), said, "Mum, miracles happen every day, they really do, so enjoy it
because a miracle may well have happened to you."
I had been in the Park at about 3.30p.m on July 24th.
So I have had 5 months of remission of symptoms and counting!
I checked my Calender just now, so I know that the date is correct.
With best wishes,
FionaSmile

Fiona, how lovely to hear someones RA is not as troublesome, it gives us all hope!!!!! I have spinal problems and I am convinced it must be connected somehow, even if it doesn't make sense!!\Confused

That's fantastic Fiona, it really is a miracle!
Your daughter is right....enjoy it because no matter how long it lasts you will always be wondering in the back of your mind if it will come back again.
Who knows, perhaps it's your body's way of saying "enough is enough!" and giving you some respite while your back is so painful.
I do hope it lasts for you, and it certainly gives me hope!

Love, Doreen xx

Fiona,

I am very happy that you have achieved remission - long may it last. I also hope the spine problems get resolved for you quickly so you do not have much discomfort. I like the others am very interested in hearing for a real life flesh and bone remission - your the first one I know that has achieve this. I did have a look on one of the artherritis website and it did say there are cases of remissions so your news gives hope to us all.

Are you still taking your meds? and what does your consultant say about it.

Happy New Year

Hi Fiona

So pleased you've got your results, although I'm sure you viewed them with mixed feelings. Thank goodness something can be done to stop this awful pain you have been having.

Take care

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!

My remission experience has me thinking that it is, as others have said,
maybe linked to the Spine problem, the Carpel Tunnel surgery and the horrible 'flu like
virus I had in May/June last year which led to the Antibiotics.
I think it really does seem as though my immune system said - it's time to sort out another
problem that is happening!
But, whatever caused the remission of R.A symptoms it is a miraculous thing after 15 years
with very little let-up til now!
The other funny thing is the way that when I was in the Park that day in the Summer, I "knew"
immediately that it had "switched off"!
I am still on my full dose of Plaquenil (Hydroxychloriquine) for R.A - there is no way I would
consider stopping that treatment unless my Rheumatologist does more thorough Bloods and
says cut it down for now. (I will hopefully be seeing him soon as the G.P wanted me to be referred
quickly because of my Spine, and improvement of R.A symptoms.)

The Spine pain is pretty consistant - nowhere near how bad it was in the beginning- but
consistantly "there".
I am still on two doses of Co-codomal daily for the Spine and ribs.

Yesterday, we drove to "Jennycliff", quite near where we live and watched the first Sun-set
of 2010.
We walked downhill to the cliff edge and as we returned back up the hill, I knew that my
lung capacity has been effected. My rib-cage feels tilted forward slightly and my upper Spine
curved forwards too.
Lately, the weather here has been bitterly cold and I stay indoors at all times if possible!

We have even rediscovered the joys of lighting the open fire in the lounge every evening!

I am hoping that I will be referred to a Spine specialist soon and that more tests will be
done and any options made clear to me as to what can be done.

I used to believe that given time my back would "put itself right", but I think that the M.R.I
scan results put paid to any notions I had about that happening without surgery!

At Jennycliff, we could have sat on some benches at the top of the cliff overlooking the sea, but
some children were playing football there and I was too afraid of a football accidentally hitting
me in the back and another vertabrae breaking.

It doesn't seem very long ago that my kids were little and I used to go on all the park swings,
roundabouts, etc, with them. (Actually it is nearly 30 years ago now!) But I still have the
photo's to prove it!

It is hard when you remember being in really great physical condition and bones start wearing out.

Enough moaning already!

Love to everybody,
FionaCool
